Our physical body consists of many things that organically work together for us to function. It should be the same with the church. According to the Bible, the church is not an organization, but an organism. The church is the Body of Christ. Since Christ is living, all the members of His Body, the church, must be living. When the Lord’s life is active in us, each member of the church will function properly.
God’s desire is for each member of the Body of Christ to be living and active. When this is so, the church will be built spontaneously. We need to be impressed that we each share this responsibility.
As members of the Body of Christ, we have to realize that without a personal relationship with the Lord, we cannot participate in the corporate aspect of the Christian life, which is the building up of the church.
If we are taking care of our individual life with the Lord, we should go on to be companionized with other members of the church. Particularly, in twos and threes. This is a vital group.
Our vital groups should bear fruit. As the Lord grows in us and our close companions, spontaneously there will be a desire within us for more people to be gained for Christ and the church. This is the Body of Christ functioning properly.
Eventually, as each member of the church functions in their measure, the Body of Christ is being built organically. And Christ has a group of people on the earth who are one with Him experientially, practically carrying out His economy on the earth.
